Set of two 1950's lounge chairs by Jean Louis Bonnant
These striking sculptural basket chairs, crafted from metal and designed for both indoor and outdoor use, offer a bold and playful take on mid-century modern aesthetics. Their open structure allows for versatile styling – with or without seat cushions, adapting seamlessly to different settings.
They are designed by the designer Jean-Louis Bonnant, these chairs carry an air of mystery and cultural significance. Bonnant is rumored to have contributed design elements to the visual universe of Jacques Tati’s iconic 1958 color film, Mon Oncle – a cinematic satire that humorously critiques the overly modern, soulless design trends of postwar France. The film, hailed by architect Jean Nouvel for its portrayal of the absurdities of modern life, shines a spotlight on the clash between tradition and cold functionality in mid-century design.
They are in good condition with some "normal" signs of age due to there age!
