Set of eight cognac leather Dialogo Dessau dining chairs by Afra E Tobia Scarpa
This rare set of Dialogo Dessau cantilever armchairs was designed by Afra and Tobia Scarpa for C & B Italia in the 1970s and represents an exceptional example of Italian postwar design.
Executed entirely in cognac leather with an exceptionally beautiful patina, the chairs have a warm, sculptural presence that contrasts elegantly with the chromed steel cantilever frames. Unlike standard versions, these early leather editions are highly uncommon and especially sought after by collectors.
The leather shells are signed underneath and remain in good original condition, showing only authentic signs of age that enhance their character. The design subtly references Bauhaus principles while expressing the Scarpas’ distinctive material-driven approach. A rare and refined collector’s piece with strong visual and historical value.
