Belgian brutalist sideboard by Defour
This striking Belgian cabinet was designed by Frans Defour and produced in the 1970s by the Defour workshop in Hooglede, Belgium, a studio known for its progressive and award-recognized furniture design.
Crafted from high-quality mahogany, the piece features powerful brutalist carvings on the doors, giving it a bold and architectural presence. The strong geometric patterns emphasize craftsmanship and originality, making it a true statement object.
The sideboard offers generous storage with five doors opening to five compartments, including one section fitted with two drawers, combining functionality with sculptural design. Originally acquired in Belgium in the early 1970s, it reflects the innovative spirit that made Defour furniture highly respected. An exceptional storage piece that fits perfectly within brutalist, modern, or design-driven interiors.
This is the biggest version they made. The top has been totally restored with a new varnish.
